    ReplyDelete
  5. I noticed that rainbow colours are a huge thing at the moment...oh and there's a new trend going on with succulents and cactus patterns, not just on fabric, but also in embroidery and paper-pieced patterns :)

  18. I keep coming back to blogs for many different reasons. If the blogger is honest about their process, that keeps me more interested. I keep going back to blogs that have great inspiration or quilts that are different than my "normal" work; it is nice to see variety! I like tips and tutorials, too, but mostly I love to follow someone who I form connections with. If they take the time to write back (I can understand not writing back on giveaway posts!) and engage with me as a person, I'll be hooked.

  19. I am seeing a trend of more solids and less prints. I also feel that a lot of modern quilting is headed toward "quilting quilts to death" using multiple quilting designs instead of just one overall. I love both trends and am often finding inspiration from IG and blogs like yours. I love bloggers that have their own sense of style and put out things they love. Keeps me coming back for more inspiration and awe.

  20. I just love reading quilt blogs for imspiration

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've noticed that a modern trend is actually to incorporate vintage into a new quilt. I am loving all of these new quilts that use vintage bed sheets mixed with new styles. They turn out so beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like quilting blogs that offer tutorials, inspiration, and tips.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have to like the blogger's writing style in order to keep coming back. Bad spelling, misuse of commas, and bad grammar will really keep me away from a blog.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love seeing other people's finished work - I'll come back again and again for beautiful pictures. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I keep returning to Blogs for step by step tutorials on projects or items I've never attempted before. The Karma is felt and I'm inspired to truck on and try it again, each time improving from the last. A seam ripper really is a friend:)
Bloggers are so willing to share, and they truly care about your successes. BTW Afton I absolutely love your quilt in April Rhodes "Wanderer" fabric collection and Maureen Cracknell's "Wild and Free".

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've only just started sewing again after a long hiatus. So at the moment quilting blogs are all about inspiration and getting the confidence to start my very first quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lots of bright colors and tutorials draw me to a blog!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I come back for great ideas, a peek into someone else's life, and tips for quilting which I very much need.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm bad at noticing trends... I'll stick with a blog if I like the style of projects the blogger works on. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like seeing pictures of finishes and works in progress. I've unfollowed a few blogs lately because the only ever seem to show new fabric they've bought and never anything they make with it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I look for inspiring quilts, tutorials, and/or free patterns. And interesting writing!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  41. I come back for the beautiful photos and helpful sewing/quilting tips.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  43. A current trend I've noticed is Succulents! Love that line and love the plants.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I come back because I love looking at photos.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have noticed that sew many quilts have white fabric in them. I try to shy away from white because I am scared that it won't stay white after lots of washing. Thanks for the great giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Number of post! I prefer to follow blogs that post regularly.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've noticed a lean towards low volume recently.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I come back for friendliness and honesty.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I see lots of fabric with words and lots of very close quilting. I am in awe of the complex quilts being made by young quilters. I recently made the arrow flight quilt when you blogged on Fort Worth Fabrics. It was a nice size and challenged me to use stash that is sitting there. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm following through Bloglovin.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's obvious but, a LOT of matchstick quilting

    ReplyDelete
  61. Rainbow colours seem to be a big trend - which is fine by me becasue I love them! Also paper piecing seems to be getting much more popular. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway x

    ReplyDelete

  64. I come back to blogs that give me inspiration whether it is an interesting quilt design or fun color choices for patterns. Love your blog by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Improv seems to be the trend. Love your blog don't change a thing! Thank you for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I follow most blogs for quilt inspiration. I like to see what other people are creating to get idea for my own quilts. I tend to make my own patterns because I will get inspiration from several different blog creations.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I like blogs that are have relatively short posts (word wise). I love seeing all the wonderfully inspiring things that my fellow quilters make and lots of saturated color has been know to draw me back now and again. ;) Thanks for the chance to win! I like your star wall-hanging, it's very colorful.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I come back to blogs when they offer tutorials or QAL. they are very fun! thanks for the chance!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Heavily quilted quilts - using swirls and cross hatch and filled-in designs was the trend I noticed at QuiltCon.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Tutorials keep me coming back

    ReplyDelete
  75. I like blogs that include the process not just the finished product--I like hearing about the creation of everyone's beautiful things, not just seeing what they've made.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I've noticed a lot of matchstick type of quilting.
What keeps me coming back to a blog are good TUTORIALS, demonstrations of techniques or projects and an occasional giveaway prize (that doesn't require jumping through hoops and disclosing all my friends and family contacts - 99% of whom have NO interest in quilting or fabrics!).

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love tutorials, many times they teach me new techiques. I also love seeing new quilts and reading how they came about.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  81. I love tutorials and photos of projects.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I've noticed a ton of medallion quilts lately

    ReplyDelete
  83. The trends I have been noticing are heavy quilting, improvisational piecing, hexagons, and lots of triangles. The blogs I enjoy the most talk about their process of designing and creating, develop original work, and make dynamic fabric choices. I also really like an occasional post that is a more word-y discussion type of topic (how to price a hand crafted item, what is involved in your creative process, finding inspiration, what are your pet peeves, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  84. current trend I'm noticing and participating in is curved quilt piecing.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hi Afton! I see a lot of EPP and FPP around. What keeps me coming back to blogs is if I see things that is my style and what I am drawn to. Great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I love to look at all of the designs and colors on a quilt.
    storybookfelts at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  87. I see English Paper Piecing everywhere. I love blogs that feature their own quilts. I tend to avoid ones that are general sewing since I really don't have a desire to make clothes.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I like tutorials and lots of photos!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Tutorials are always useful, particularly when they are technique tutorials rather than for some specific block/quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I love following blogs for photos of quilts, whether in progress or finished. It is great when tips are posted, and give aways are always awesome, but I really just love getting new ideas and seeing what beautiful things others are creating.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I go back to blogs that keep me thinking, that share what was going on in the mind of the maker while creating the quilt or whatever, that are conversational, show good pictures (but not 27 views of the same quilt block). I'm not fond of most tutorials -- my abilities are beyond most of them. A'm also not fond of posts every single day, showing the 11th block of a 42 block quilt after having seen the first 10 in previous posts. I like to see the person behind the blog come through, to get to know the blogger as a friend.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I follow you on Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Wow - amazing stuff that you do! Can't wait to take some serious time to peruse your blog - thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love seeing what people can create with fabric - that keeps me coming back for more. It's fascinating to see someone's take on the fabric and how they use it.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I love being inspired.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I love tutorials, and lovely pictures of fabric and quilts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. All the pretty pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I follow blogs that are organized, have posts every few days, have new ideas, patterns, colors...

    ReplyDelete
  103. I have noticed that "quilts" don't look like quilts. THey look like modern art. To say its a "quilt" has gotten to seem to mean it is old and ratty and worn out. But these days, from what I see....its almost a shame to use them as they are so beautiful and decorative! Kind of a shame to hide it under the bedspread! And what brings me around is just blogging my own creations and then surfing blogs about others creations. I get ideas of what's out there but also tons of inspiration!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I like blogs with good quilting content, pics, and explainations of technique or tutorials.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  111. I keep coming back to blogs that have fun projects...tutorials, pictures & making me feel like I just visited with a gooood friend.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I come back to blogs for a variety of reasons. Mostly to look and drool over quilts but also tutorials and process posts. I am especially intrigued by FMQ these days and reading about the process. The good, the bad and the ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Finished items, tips, reviews of books/tools/patterns, how-tos, and more. I tend to get very bored when blogs show post after post of fabric photos without posting any actual content - no words, thoughts, not even WIPs - just fabric stash photos.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I think one of the things that people are doing is using old or traditional quilt blocks but in contemporary fabrics. Calling it modern or modern traditional. It is also fun to see all the different medallion quilts people are making now.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I think frequency of posts really helps keep readers coming back to blogs. If someone only posts every 6 months, I'm going to lose interest. Thanks for the chance to win! jgemeroy(at)gmail(dot)com
