Much Thanks

Thank you so much to all who voted. Octopi in the Ocean has made it to the finals of the Quilters Newsletter Traditional to Modern Challenge. I'm in the big time now, baby! I couldn't have done it without all the sweet folks who took the time to guess the illegible words to prove your humanity and vote for me. You're the best!

Check out the competition here. Continue to vote, if possible, as the jury is still out.

Uncharted Territory

While I love dolling up my little lady, I had not ventured into the realm of seamstress. The three-dimensional aspect of clothing, coupled with repeatedly flipping and item inside out and then right sides out intimidated me. I bought many yards of this darling Halloween candy fabric at an inventory reduction sale, and figured its seasonal nature made it better suited for something other than a quilt that would be displayed for less time yearly than it would take to create. I decided to use Jess's Charlotte Dress and Snow White Sleeves tutorials. I added the orange box pleats in the skirt and the ribbon pull tie to the front.

While the ensemble is more tunic than dress, I'm happy with the result. If I make this dress again, I will use a zig-zag stitch on the additional seams adding box pleats created. I'm afraid that when I wash this dress, it's going to unravel a bit.
